We'd like to thank Castrol Oils who confirmed today that they will again be sponsoring us with 60 litres of their Power 1 GPS 10W40 Superbike oil.
With 4 engine and drivetrain related Final Year Research Projects taking place on this year's car, we are set for plenty of engine running, both on the dyno and the test track, making the opportunity to use top-grade oil with no cost to the team particularly valuable. Thank you.

We are delighted to announce that, for the third year running, Perkins Engines will be sponsoring UBRacing. In the light of the current economic situation, this sponsorship is more valuable than ever - we'd like to thank Perkins for their continued, invaluable support.
In addition to financial sponsorship, we look forward to working on long-term planning with Perkins engineers, setting up a management structure to enable effective knowledge transfer into future years, a priority given the large number of senior team members graduating after this season.

Last week two crash structure samples were tested. Both samples were made from Aluminium Honeycomb and were tested by dropping a 300Kg block onto them from 2.5m above. Below is a picture of the two samples before the test.

The deceleration was measured by 2 accelerometers mounted on the block as shown below.

Below are the samples after the test. Sample A crushed uniformly (below left), Sample B did not crush uniformly and a side wall of one layer was broken from the sample as shown in the picture (below right).

The results of the test's are currently being analysed. Video's of the tests will be uploaded soon. |
