Driver Training / Selection Day PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 18 February 2008 13:05

We have now completed our second testing session in car 59.

Last Saturday we took 59 and a dozen team members to Millbrook proving grounds. Here we did some driver training on a basic short run track which mimicked key parts of tracks used in UK and Germany last year.

We now have seven great drivers to choose from for the competition, and we will be running a final driver selection during our next Dunlop test day in March.

Unfortunately, due to security and no cameras allowed at Millbrook, we do not have any pictures to show.

First Dunlop Test and Driver Practice Day Highly Successful PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 28 January 2008 15:20

We are pleased to announce that we have completed our first phase of Dunlop tyre testing at Bruntingthorpe.

The Dunlop Test

We are working with Dunlop Motorsport along with the University of Hertfordshire to help develop and test a new tyre for use in the Formula SAE/Formula Student competitions.

This test was to put the new design Dunlop tyres up against our current Avon tyres to ascertain what needs to be changed in the Dunlops to make them perform better than the Avons.

We performed 3 full runs of around 20 laps each at the Bruntingthorpe Kart track, once in the Avons and twice in the Dunlops at various pressures. For each run, we were logging data on our DL2 Race-Technology data logger, which we must thank Deloitte for. We also took numerous tyre temperatures across the tyres and the pressures at each.

Overall, this was a highly successful test session for both ourselves and Dunlop, as we have learned a lot about the new tyres.

The Driver Practice

We also took advantage of the availability of the track after we had concluded the Dunlop test, allowing us to give all members that attended the test a drive in the car. This was a great opportunity to allow us to reward our hard work and just go for a spin in the car, and give us an idea of who might be driving at Silverstone and Hockenheim.

Pictures

Below are a highlight of some of the pictures taken during the test session.
